Pacific Telestations, Inc. (dba KUAM)
In 1990, the Calvo family of businesses formed Pacific Telestations, Inc. (KUAM) and quickly became the island’s premier and reliable news coverage network. Joseph Calvo is the General Manager of KUAM, a company that has transformed itself from a news network station to Guam’s pre-eminent and riveting entertainment and news outlet. Pacific Telestations boasts a host of networks such as Guam’s critically-acclaimed news network and NBC-affiliate—KUAM TV 8—as well as the CBS-affiliate station TV 11, local radio station and talk show Isla 63 and the islands most popular and unpredictable radio broadcast—I94. KUAM’s news team has been the recipient of a number of impressive awards including Journalist of the Year, Best Documentary in the region, and many Edward R. Murrow regional awards. The KUAM radio personalities are just as accomplished having the islands largest listenership. I94’s no-holds-barred approach to radio grabs attention by exposing the many controversial, yet truthful ironies of Guam. KUAM has brought news and entertainment to Guam’s residents for over 15 years with some of the most accomplished, courageous, and colorful personalities on island. KUAM is first on the scene, whether it’s typhoon coverage or government scandal, they tell the story.
